Congratulations to Dr. Ellenbogen and Dr. Ferreira who, along with Dr. Kate Weaver and Dr. Brent Wisse, were awarded a Kuni Foundation research grant in the amount of $75,000 for their project “Predicting Medication-Resistant and Atypical Pituitary Adenomas in Children and Adults Using a Cell-Free DNA Approach.”

Congratulations to Dr. Jeff Herron who was awarded a Weill Neurohub research grant in the amount of $280,373 for his project “Automated Optimization of Adaptive DBS for Parkinson’s Disease.” 

Congratulations to Dr. Hofstetter who along with Dr. Chet Moritz was awarded a Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs grant in the amount of $410,176 (1st year) for their project “Closed-loop Spinal Stimulation for Restoration of Upper Extremity Function After Spinal Cord Injury.”

Congratulations tor Dr. Chesnut and Dr. Temkin whose paper “A Trial of Intracranial-Pressure Monitoring in Traumatic Brain Injury,” which was published in the December 27, 2012 issue of The New England Journal of Medicine, has been cited over 1000 times. 

Congratulations to Dr. Kalume who is one of seven University of Washington scientists included in Cell Mentor’s list of 1,000 inspiring Black scientists published in December 2020. 

Congratulations to Guilherme Barros, MD, Madeline Greil, MD and Sananthan Sivakanthan, MD whose proposals have been selected for NIH funding effective July 1, 2021. 

Congratulations to Dr. Sam Browd who has been appointed Associate Editor of Pediatric Neurosurgery. Pediatric Neurosurgery publishes new information and observations in pediatric neurosurgery, neurology, neuroradiology, and neuropathology.

Congratulations to Dr. Manny Ferreira who was awarded a cancer research grant in the amount of $1,200,000 for his project "Discovery Omics for Targeted Treatment for Orphan Brain Cancers."

Congratulations to Dr. Rob Bonow whose research project “Tracking intracranial pressure noninvasively with optic nerve sheath diameter” has received a grant in the amount of $89,000 from the newly established Garvey Institute for Brain Health Solutions (GIBHS) at UW Medicine.
