Congratulations to Dr. Jeff Herron who was awarded a Royalty Research Fund (RRF) grant in the amount of $39K for his project “Neuromodulation of approach-avoidance behavior for future psychiatric disorder therapies.” A total of 93 proposals were submitted to the Office of Research requesting support from the RRF. Of these, only 25 will receive funding, which is a success rate of 27%. In other words, the competition was intense, and Dr. Herron’s proposal was deemed excellent.
Support through the RRF is made possible by the creativity and inventiveness of the faculty. The RRF is funded by royalty and licensing fee income generated by the University’s technology transfer program. It has been offered twice a year since 1992 and welcomes proposals with budgets up to $40,000. Approximately $1M is awarded per round.
