Important Requirements for Summer Program Applicants:
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older by the first day of the program (due to minimum age requirements in facilities). No exceptions can be made.
- Undergraduate students may apply if they are at least 18 years of age and older by the first day of the program.
- Graduate students are not eligible.
- Medical students are not eligible.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the US. Visa holders are not eligible.
- Applicants will be required to provide their GPA and Stem GPA on the application. A minimum of a 3.2 GPA for both are required to apply.
- Selected participants will be required to have immunizations and TB test results which are current through the program end date.
- A limited number of program-sponsored housing slots are available to applicants originating from outside of the area.
- Transportation to/from Seattle, meals, and local transportation while participating in the program are the responsibility of the applicant.
- Participants must be available to work at least 40 hours every week for the duration of the entire 8-week program.
Required Application Materials:
- Letter of Interest: Addressed to the Selection Committee, this letter should express your interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and include a narrative explaining why you are interested in the program.
- Current Resume
- Unofficial Transcript
- At least one letter of recommendation: This must be from a faculty member in STEM. Recommendations do not have a specific word or length requirement.
Application Deadline: All materials must be submitted via the online portal by the application deadline (*now closed for the 2026 program). Application materials sent to nsssp@uw.edu will not be accepted.
