After seeing firsthand how little football helmet technology had evolved, UW Medicine neurosurgeon Samuel Browd partnered with UW engineers to rethink helmet design and better protect the brain from concussion-causing forces. Their work led to a new helmet now worn by athletes from youth football fields to the Super Bowl.
