Congratulations to Sananthan Sivakanthan, James Pan, Louis Kim, Richard Ellenbogen and Rajiv Saigal whose paper, Economic Impact of COVID-19 on a High-Volume Academic Neurosurgical Practice, has been published in the August online issue of World Neurosurgery. The authors conducted a study to describe the financial impact of COVID-19 on an academic neurosurgery department, reviewing weekly average daily work relative value units (wRVUs) before and after COVID-19 in FY 2020 and comparing them to the same period of time in FY 2019. They conclude that COVID-19 had a profound detrimental effect on surgical productivity and revenue generation.
