An international collaboration to improve the precision of the Glasgow Outcome Scale Extended (GOSE)

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major public health concern for which effective treatments are sorely needed. Efforts to evaluate potential treatments are hindered by weaknesses in the measurement of TBI-related disability. This project will use modern psychometric methods to develop different scoring approaches for the GOSE and evaluate the characteristics of the different scoring methods using real-world data. In this project, Dr. Temkin will participate in weekly calls to discuss the conceptualization, execution, and dissemination of the work. During years 2 and 3, she and Mr. Jason Barber will carry out clinical trial simulations comparing the characteristics of the different scoring methods using real-world data.
