Meet Our Newest UW Neurological Surgery Residents!

Thanks to the diligent, thoughtful work our faculty, residents, and staff have done to help attract the best and brightest residents to our department, for yet another year, we have matched our top candidates. We will have four very impressive future neurological surgeons joining us at the end of June. Three of these future neurological surgeons were sub-interns in our department and one was discovered during the interview process. Our next class of R-1 residents is truly promising!

Endowed Chair for Jeff Ojemann, MD

Dr. Jeff Ojemann has been appointed the inaugural holder of the George A. Ojemann Endowed Chair for Epilepsy Research which was established for the benefit of neurological surgery research in cortical function and its relation to epilepsy thanks to a generous donation from Margaret and Kenneth Quarles. Dr. Ojemann is a nationally and internationally recognized thought leader in the epilepsy field and a pioneer in epilepsy research and brain-computer interface.

New Title for Andrew Ko, MD

Congratulations to Dr. Andrew Ko who is now Chief of Neurological Surgery and Neurosurgery Medical Director at University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC). Dr. Ko earned his BA in philosophy from Dartmouth College in 2000 and his MD from the University of Illinois in 2005. He then performed his neurological surgery residency at the University of Washington followed by a fellowship in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery at Oregon Health and Science University.
