Using Automated Pupillometry for Prediction of Intracranial Hypertension in Severe Traumatic Brain Injury

Project Aims:

  • Determine whether pupillometry can predict which TBI patients undergoing ICP monitor placement will have intracranial hypertension upon insertion or within the next 24 hours.
  • Determine whether pupillometry can predict changes in ICP in sTBI patients.
    • Part A: Assess whether NPi changes precede intracranial hypertension events and return to baseline following successful treatment of intracranial hypertension.
    • Part B: Assess whether NPi changes from normal to abnormal signify an increase in measured ICP.
